Terms of Service.

Effective date

These terms cover how you may use the Unseizable app and website. Unseizable is a non-custodial Bitcoin wallet: your keys and recovery phrase stay on your device, and we never take custody of your funds. Read this carefully — self-custody puts real control, and real responsibility, in your hands.

1. Overview

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Unseizable (“Unseizable,” “we,” “us”) governing your use of the Unseizable iPhone app and this website (together, the “Service”). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Unseizable is a non-custodial Bitcoin wallet. The app is designed so that your private keys and recovery phrase are generated and held on your device — not on our servers. We do not hold, control, or have access to your Bitcoin, and we cannot move, freeze, or recover funds on your behalf. Self-custody means you are responsible for your keys and recovery phrase.

2. Eligibility

To use the Service you must be at least the age of majority in your province or territory and able to enter into a binding agreement. Unseizable launches on iPhone and is built for Canada; Android support is on our roadmap.

  • You are a resident of Canada and using a supported iPhone running a current version of iOS.
  • You will provide accurate information where verification is required by Canadian regulation.
  • You are not barred from using the Service under applicable Canadian law or sanctions.
  • You are using the Service for your own account, not on behalf of an undisclosed third party.

3. Self-custody & your keys

Unseizable is non-custodial by design. When you create a wallet, a recovery phrase is generated on your device and your keys are kept in hardware-backed storage on the device. You hold the keys — we never see them.

There is no password reset for self-custody.

If you lose your device and your recovery phrase, your Bitcoin cannot be recovered — not by us, and not by anyone. Because we never take custody, there is nothing for us to restore.

You are responsible for:

  • Writing down and securely storing your recovery phrase offline, away from cameras and cloud backups.
  • Keeping your device, passcode, and on-device biometrics secure.
  • Verifying every send address and amount before you confirm a transaction — on-chain Bitcoin and Lightning payments are irreversible.
  • Maintaining your own backups; we cannot reproduce keys or transactions for you.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service lawfully and only as intended. You will not:

  • Use the Service for money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, or any activity prohibited by Canadian law.
  • Reverse engineer, tamper with, or attempt to extract keys or data from another person's device or wallet.
  • Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Misrepresent your identity or provide false information where verification is required.
  • Use the Unseizable name, logo, or brand in a way that implies endorsement or affiliation without our written permission.

5. Fees & funding

You can fund your wallet with Interac e-Transfer in Canadian dollars, or receive Bitcoin directly to your address. Any fees we charge are shown to you before you confirm an action; current fees are listed on our pricing page.

Network fees

Bitcoin on-chain transactions and Lightning payments carry network fees set by the Bitcoin and Lightning networks — not by Unseizable. These fees vary with network conditions and are paid to the network, not to us. We show estimated network fees before you confirm, but final amounts can change as conditions change.

6. Compliance & verification

Unseizable operates in Canada and follows applicable Canadian law, including obligations that apply to money services businesses. Where the law requires us to verify identity or collect certain information, we do — and we keep verification to what Canadian regulation requires and nothing more.

We are not a bank and do not hold deposits. Funds in self-custody are not held by us and are not covered by deposit insurance. We may be required to report or restrict certain activity to comply with the law; where we can, we will tell you what we are required to do.

7. Risk disclosures

Holding Bitcoin in self-custody carries real risks. Please make sure you understand them before you use the Service.

  • Irreversible transactions. Bitcoin on-chain and Lightning payments cannot be reversed once confirmed. If you send to the wrong address, the funds are gone.
  • Loss of keys means loss of funds. If you lose both your device and your recovery phrase, no one — including Unseizable — can recover your Bitcoin.
  • Price volatility. The value of Bitcoin can change significantly and quickly. You may lose money.
  • Device and personal security. Your funds are only as safe as your device, passcode, and the secrecy of your recovery phrase. Phishing, malware, and social-engineering scams target self-custody users.
  • Network conditions. Confirmation times and network fees vary with Bitcoin and Lightning network activity and are outside our control.
  • Regulatory and tax change. Laws affecting Bitcoin in Canada may change and could affect how you use the Service.

By using the Service, you acknowledge that you understand and accept these risks and that you are solely responsible for safeguarding your keys and recovery phrase.

8. No financial or tax advice

Unseizable provides software for self-custody of Bitcoin. Nothing in the Service or on this website is financial, investment, legal, or tax advice, and nothing should be taken as a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any asset. You are responsible for your own decisions, and for any tax obligations that arise from holding or transacting Bitcoin. Consider speaking with a qualified professional.

9. Service availability

We work to keep the Service reliable, but we provide it on an “as available” basis and do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

  • We may update, change, or discontinue features, and we may release new versions of the app.
  • The Service is offered on iPhone in Canada at launch; availability elsewhere and on Android may follow over time.
  • Because your keys live on your device, you can restore your wallet in any compatible wallet using your recovery phrase even if the Service becomes unavailable.

10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or always available.

Because Unseizable is non-custodial, we do not hold your funds and cannot recover, reverse, or replace lost keys, recovery phrases, or transactions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unseizable will not be liable for any loss of Bitcoin, loss of keys, or indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable Canadian law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Unseizable harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will provide reasonable notice in the app or by other means. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario for any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service.
